While cloud-based integration is widespread, on-premise systems, especially those from large ERP providers, often exist outside of these ecosystems. Integrating such systems with banks can be both costly and complex, making automation difficult for many companies.
Backbone was engaged to offer a more affordable alternative to direct ERP-to-bank integration. Using data extracted from the ERP as the source, we developed a solution that transforms and consolidates payment information (e.g., combining payments to the same vendor) and generates bank payment upload files tailored to the bank’s specific format.
Without this tool, the company would have had to manually input thousands of payments into the bank portal. Our solution not only streamlined the payment process but also identified potential control weaknesses, providing recommendations to improve internal processes.
This approach offered a more efficient and scalable solution, saving time and reducing manual effort, without the high costs associated with full ERP integration.
